If you are exchanging or returning your bike and need help with preparing your bike for the collection, this guide will tell you everything you need to know about the preparation and repackaging of your bike

 Step 1: Cleaning

1. There are some important parts of your bike that require the most attention when ensuring that it is clean and ready for collection. These can be seen below:

2. These areas should be cleaned with a light degreaser and firm bristle brush, both of which can be found at your local bike shop - WD-40 and an old toothbrush will work just fine too!

3. Once you have wiped down your bike, you will need to gently rinse it with water

4. For the rest of your bike, washing is simple - hot soapy water and a soft bristle brush will suffice

Step 2: Drying your bike

Simply gently wipe your bike down with a towel to ensure that it is not wet when collected and the box remains dry

Step 3: Removing the pedals

Tool required: 5mm Allen key

The pedals on your bike need to be removed for the collection. This ensures that your bike’s box isn’t damaged in transit

Follow these steps and your pedals will be off in no time:

1. Right pedal: with the pedal in the 3 o’clock position, insert an Allen key into the pedal and push down

2. Rotate the pedal anti-clockwise until it comes off

3. Left pedal: with the pedal in the 9 o’clock position, insert an Allen key into the pedal and push down

4. Rotate the pedal clockwise until it comes off

Please note: If you find the pedals are hard to remove, try applying a little grease around the crank arm - this should help the pedals come off easily

Step 3: Turning the handlebars

Tool required: 5mm Allen key

  1. Using a 5mm Allen key, loosen the two side bolts, as shown in the image below:

2. Your handlebars are now ready to be turned:

Stand with the wheel between your legs to turn your handlebars 90 degrees:

3. Finally, the bolts that were loosened in Step 1 now need to be tightened using an Allen key

Perfect! Your bike is now ready to be sent back to us, where our expert mechanics will refurbish it so it can be sent to its’ new loving owner who will have just as much fun on it as you did
